What is Darlaston JET?

Part of Steps to Work (Walsall) Ltd, Darlaston JET (which stands for Jobs, Education & Training) is the dedicated 'one stop' training and employment initiative serving the local residents and businesses of the greater Darlaston area which includes Bentley, Palfrey, Pleck and Willenhall, and of course, Darlaston itself.

We operate from the Darlaston Online centre located right in Darlaston town centre where local people and companies can benefit from a wide range of free help, advice and support in relation to training, employment and recruitment opportunities. We also deliver outreach services across the area and participate in many local events to engage with the community.

What we offer:

Help for local residents

Whatever your circumstances, whether you are unemployed or just about to start work, we should be able to give you the help and advice you need to reach your training, education and job goals.

Listed below is a summary of the main ways in which we can help. But if the type of help you need isn't listed here then don't worry as we still might be able to help you or at least refer you to another local organisation that can. The main thing is that you get in touch with us!

Job search help and advice such developing a CV, etc	Internet access for job search and training activity
Job related training and work experience opportunities	Training to help you develop new skills
Help with basic skills such as maths and English	Money and advice to help with childcare, travel and other work costs
£50 'Job Start' bonus if you are about to start work	And lots more . . .

We're committed to partnership and so we are currently building links with a number of other local organisations that offer free help and advice to people on a range of different matters. These include . . . (to be confirmed)

Support for local companies

If you're a local small and medium sized enterprise (SME) that employs up to 249 people, then we may be able to provide you with a package of free help and support if you're looking to recruit new staff, including wage subsidies of almost £2000 per employee.

Our full recruitment service includes:

o Identifying and short-listing suitable candidates
o Issuing application forms
o Administrative support and interview facilities if needed

We can also offer you:

o A wage subsidy of up £50 per week for up to 26 weeks for all eligible employees you recruit via Darlaston JET.
o Costs towards employee training

What we can offer your new employees:

Each eligible new employee you recruit could also receive help over an initial period with the costs of:

o Equipment
o Clothing
o Travel
o Childcare

And remember, all of the services we offer are completely FREE of charge!
